Florida residents are no strangers to the realities of disaster relief and assistance in the wake of a hurricane, and those in the New York and New Jersey area who were most affected by Hurricane Sandy are now in need of your support. ABC news.com has recently released a good list of charities and support organizations that you can donate to to assist in the hurricane relief and recovery efforts. We have listed some of these below, and anything you can do to show your support will be beneficial to those impacted by this terrible storm.
- The Red Cross. The easiest way to support the Red Cross as they provide food, shelter, and other support activities in the disaster area is by texting “Redcross” to 90999. if you’d like to make additional donations you can visit their website www.redcross.org, or call 800–Red–Cross.
- The Salvation Army. Salvation Army food kitchens are often some of the earliest support workers on the scene of a hurricane disaster, providing hot meals to anyone affected by the storm or those who are there to provide recovery efforts. You can donate to the Salvation Army at any time by visiting their website www.salvationarmyusa.org.
- World Vision. Providing disaster victims with personal hygiene kits, cleanup kits, and emergency food is something world vision does on a regular basis. You can visit their website www.worldvision.org to make a donation.
